Master Bedroom

When we first moved in the room was divided in 2 by a small hallway containing stairs to the loft room. It  didn't really make sense to loose such a great space so we moved the staircase when we re-did the loft conversion and knocked the room back into one again.

We stripped the wall paper, plaster boarded the ceiling (mainly Dan with occasional help from my very weak aching arms!) had the room plastered, and then Dan decorated.

We then got our friend Dean to make us floor to ceiling wardrobes - I was very excited at the prospect at all that storage!
All the boys helped put them together and install them!

I made a lampshade by winding pva soaked wool around a football then popping it!

The grey wool carpet we have used throughout the house finished the room as did a pair of curtains I made in a similar green to the wardrobes.

I have been on the look out for a while for a dressing table and was really pleased to find this one on ebay. I love sitting getting ready whilst watching the world go by out of the window. The whole room has a really fresh feel and is lovely to wake up to.

My pumpkin efforts for this year again gave way to demand. Last year it was Peppa Pig but this year Spiderman and Kwazii from the Octonauts were the requests so here they are....

We started the day with a ride to the Nursery Halloween Party. JJ looked really cool on his bike!

We stopped by the park on the way home

The afternoon was spent making Halloween Slime!! Such good fun and the chemical reaction really got the 'Wow' factor! The recipe is:-

In one bowl: mix 4oz pva glue with 4 oz water and 1 tspn food colouring
In another bowl: mix 1/2 cup water with 1 teaspoon Borax (this is a cleaning agent used a lot in the US. In the end I bought it v cheaply on ebay - a little goes a long way and has tons of uses so might be worth keeping in. NB Borax substitute found in Robert Dyas does not work)
Mix 2 bowls together and an amazing reaction occurs! Squish and drain off excess liquid and you will be left with wonderful slime.  Keep in a zip lock bag and keep playing!

The boys then dresses ready again to go out and had a play.

I made a very rushed tea of witches finger sandwiches...

Then it was off trick or treating!! I have to admit this was my first experience of trick or treating so I was a bit tentative but we went with Joplin's friend Molly and her mummy who grew up in America so she was a dab hand! They were a shy at first but soon got the hang when they saw people really did give them sweets!! We only went to doors who 'advertised' with a pumpkin in the window which made it exciting to spot the pumpkins!

 Happy Halloween!!
